Power Aware Service Discovery

On Thursday, October 20, 2005, Ed Koush and I presented a new algorithm for discovering services on wireless ad-hoc networks. The title of the paper is “Power Aware and Power Efficient Service Discovery for Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks.” As it suggests we aimed to come up an innovative way for mobile devices — namely PDAs and smart phones — to discover services that one or more of the connected devices has to offer. The discovery of a service, such as a link to the internet, must also be power efficient so that battery life over the entire network can be maximized.

Please note that this paper has not been submitted to any conference or professional journal and there are no plans to do so. With that in mind, I am releasing the paper and Powerpoint presentation below in both their respective Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat formats under a Creative Commons License.
